Councilman Aaron Chung and Finance Committee
I am writing to support dividing the animal control responsibilities between East and
West Hawau.
At this point there is no animal control ofFcer at the Kona ofFce!~
In the past complaints to the County Administration have been completely ignored.
I realize awarding the contract and monitoring it is not a Counal responsibility,
however, I want you all to know that we in West Hawau are really tired of having this
very serious situation ignored.
I know that Hawau Island Humane Society's lack of responsibility to the lob has been
documented over and over.
It's time to turn the contract for West Hawau back to West Hawaii Humane Society
whose efforts and funds will be spent in our own community.
