Honorable Finance Chairman and Council Members:
I heartily and respectfully request that you vote in favor of the
proposal to hire an independent, professional agenry to do a
performance evaluation of Hawaii Island Humane Society's work for the
county.
Discussions, letters, complaints, requests and many disturbing stories
circulating in the community, indicate that there is a definite need as
controversy, even impropriety may well exist
We do not have unbiased expe?ts working in the county to provide us
with an objective and accurate evaluation and it is ¢sser?tial that finally
this is done.
We need to know. And know correctly, accurately, definitively.
In the long run, the expense of an outside evaluation will pay fior itself
in the money that is wisely and elgicie?rtfy spe?rt in the future. We
already know what has been spent in the past
Equally compelling and important, is ensuring that what is being
provided has consistenry, quality, compassion, fellows the law, provides
ethical and complete animal welfare services, with an eye on the future
for education, growth and developme?rt and furthering improveme?Tts
in this, the 2Ist century.
