Re Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a variety of Dart Frogs and materials for
construction of a new Children's Zoo for the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo These
items, being donated by the Friends of the Pana'ewa Zoo, P O Box 738, Kea'au,
Hawaii 96764, have a total estimated value of $15,690

DONATIONS FOR PANA'EWA RAINFOREST ZOO
The Fnends of the Panaewa Zoo (FOZ) would ltke to upgrade and enhance the
reptile/amphibian exhibit at the zoo. They have spent numerous volunteer hours
cleazing, paznting, and creating new terrariums for exhibits. To complete the project,
they would like to purchase and donate 12 assorted species of Dart Frogs This will
include: 3) Azure Dart Frogs, 3) Strawberry Dart Frogs, 3) French Guyana Dart Frogs,
and 3) Mantella Frogs. These Frogs aze colorful rainforest species from South Amenca,
and will add greatly to the new exhibit that will be entitled "Jewels of the Rainforest "
The Department of Agnculture Plant Quarantine Branch has inspected the zoo facilities
and issued the permit to allow importation of the Frogs
The Fnends of the Panaewa Zoo (FOZ) has purchased a 40' X 60' steel greenhouse
construction package. The East Hawaii ICiwanis service project at the zoo will provide
the labor for construction of the building FOZ is also purchasing fence panels to provide
stalls for anunals in the completed structure This project when completed, will house the
vanous Children's Petting Zoo animals that have become such a popular attraction every
week It will also allow for additional azimals to used for education/petting zoo
$1 x,000 00 was appropnated by FOZ, and will cover the cost of matenals
