RESOLUTION NO. '48 O1
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF A VARIETY OF
DART FROGS AND MATERIALS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW CHILDREN'S ZOO
WHEREAS, "Friends of the Pana'ewa Zoo" has donated a variety of Dart Frogs and materials for
construction of a new Children's Zoo for the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo; and
WHEREAS, the Dart Frogs, with an estimated value of SIX HUNDRED NINETY DOLLARS
($690.00) will be used for educational and display purposes; and
WHEREAS, the materials, with an estimated value of FIF'T'EEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000.00)
will be used for construction of the new Children's Zoo; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Pazks and Recreation recommends acceptance of this generous
donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts the Dart Frogs and materials.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to Friends of the Pana'ewa Zoo,
P.O. Box 738, Kea'au, Hawaii 96749, acknowledging this generous donation.
