This additional appropriation is necessary to cover the additional cost of the design and construction of One Pauahi Place due to the design changes proposed by Mayor Kim At the present time, the Department of Public Works is developing more accurate figures on the cost of the proposed changes. As soon as these numbers are available, we will present them to you. We expect to have them before the Finance Committee considers this bill Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. While final costs are not it, it is estimated that $1 million more, along with amounts previously appropriated, will be sufficient to finish the project and also take care of the commitment to the Judiciary. Pursuant to Section 1(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii, this wntten request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on Finance for placement on its future agenda.
