Dear Mayor Kim,
As the Chairman of the Environmental & Parks Committee, I sincerely appreciated the
meeting with you end your staff regarding solid waste issues confronting our County.
The closure of the East Hawaii Landfill, and subsequent plans will be a maJor
undertaking for your Administration and the Hawaii County Council.
I totally support your direction on this matter, and respectfully request that you beef the
entire Environmental Committce on this matter. This would be a great opportunity to
provide our island community with a game plan, and allow for input on the process from
the general public
I respectfully request that you and your staff be available to speak at our Environmental
Committce Meeting on March 8, 2001. Thank you very much and we look forward to
working with you in addressing our solid waste issues in our County.
