Re Resolution Authorizw¢ Acamsition of Propy~Q~jacent
to Hawal`l Public Safety Building for Future Exmansion
of the Police Station
Enclosed please find a resolution authonzmg the Director of Finance to enter into
negotiations for the procurement of two properties abutting the Hawaii County Police
Department, which are currently subject to banlavptcy proceedings. The County has been
worlang with the banlQUptcy tiustce and the debtors' attorneys and can acquire these two paroels
for $175,000 with proceeds from the asset forfeiture account. The Department of Justice has
approved the use of the asset forfeiture funds for the acquisition of these parcels and the County
is able to acquire these parcels now at below their current assessed values. The County has been
afforded a unique opportunity to purchase these properties, which would be desirable for the
future expansion of the Hawar`l County Police Department with the use of asset forfeiture funds
approved by the Department of Justice
We urge passage of this resolution in order that we may finalize acquisition of these
parcels.
Sincerely,
D TAKASE
