RESOLUTION NO. 5'7 01
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, OFFICE OF
YOUTH SERVICES, STATE OF HAWAII, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR
ENFORCING UNDERAGE DRINKING LAWS
WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services, Office of Youth Services, State of Hawaii has
authorized funding for enforcing underage dunking laws and the hiring of a coordinator for programs
for the County of Hawaii, which shall be under the supervision of the Department of Liquor Control,
and
WHEREAS, the funds provided by the Department of Human Services, Office of Youth
Services, are derived from grants provided by the federal government, and
WHEREAS, the duration of the grant is for two (2) years, effective Apnl 1, 2001 to March 30,
2003, pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, the Department of Liquor Control requests
approval for amulti-year contract, and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain
the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCILOF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the Department of Human
Services, Office of Youth Services, State of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to sign the
above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the
County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Department of Human Services, Office of Youth Services, the Office of
the Mayor, and the Departments of Finance and Liquor Control.
