RESOLUTION NO. 59 01
RESOLUTION CHANGING THE FUNDING SOURCE OF FIVE POSITIONS UNDER THE
COMMUNITY POLICING PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the U S Department of Justice, through a contract with the Hawa~`~
Counn~ Police Department, provided federal fundtng for five (5) postuons under the
Communttv Pohang Program for three (3) years, whtch postuons were created by Ordinance
97-83, and
WHEREAS, the funding of these posttton wtl] end of March 15, 2001, and
WHEREAS, Position No 4044 is assigned to the Ka`u District, Posrtton No 404 to
Hamakua, Posttton No 4046 to Puna, Position No 4047 Waimea and Position No 4048 to
Kona, and
WHEREAS, this program has greatly impacted various communrttes throughout the
County and has been deemed to be successful, and
WHEREAS, after federal funds have been expended, the County ~vtll contrnue to
Cunds these postuons, and
WHEREAS, funds are available to the following accounts
Position No 4044 010-201-5213 01-011 Ka`u
Position No 4045 010-201-5209 01-011 Hamakua
Position No 4046 010-201-5214 01-011 Puna
Position No 4047 010-201-5210 01-011 Waimea
Posuion No 4048 010-201-5212 01-011 Kona
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the County of Hawaii that it will continue to
fund Position Nos. 4044,4045,4046,4047 and 4048 after the Community Policing grant funds have been
expended.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds are available in the respective regular salaries and wages account
in the districts that the positions are assigned to.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this
resolution to the Departments of Finance and Police.
