Dear Council Members:
It has come to our attention as long standing home owners on Kaiulani St, Reeds Island here in Hilo that
there exists an 80 foot road right of way on tmk 3-2-3-26-02. We are told this right of way was
established on paper back in 1967 for the purpose of traffic to reach the Belt Highway from Waianuenue
as an extension from Komohana.
We would like to propose that [he County remove this right of way cutting through a portion of quiet
residential Reeds Island and instead be placed more realistically off Akolea Road in Piihonua where there
is already a road across the river. This would help relieve traffic on lower Waianuenue feeding onto Belt
Highway. f
