RESOLUTION NO. 61 01
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL
YEAR OR OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR AMULTI-YEAR LEASE OF
REAL PROPERTY
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease, or other
obligation regwring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one
fiscal year be approved by resolution, and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai i desires to extend the lease of the office space located at
85-951 Haleki'i Street, Kealakekua, Hawai i for the Department of Parks and Recreation, and
WHEREAS, the Volunteers have put in numerous hours improving the office space, and
WHEREAS, the current lease that ends on June 30, 2001, has an option to renew the term of
the lease for an additional four (4) years, and
WHEREAS, the Kona Elderly Activities Office will occupy said space of 4,000 square feet at
the cost of $4,000 00 a month, and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into amulti-year lease with Mr David Basque, owner,
for four (4) years starting July 1, 2001, and ending on June 30, 2005
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a four (4) year lease agreement for office
space for the Department of Parks and Recreation.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligations
of the County under the lease agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments
of Finance and Parks and Recreation.
