RESOLUTION NO. 64 U1
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PURSUANT TO HRS
46-7, FOR A COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT ORGANIZATION GRANT
WHEREAS, the United States of America through the U S Department of Justice, Office of
Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance has authorized funding for expenses to provide
support and purchase training services for the establishment of community based organizations and
representatives that will identify justice related issues and problems of the community that wtll be
addressed at islandwide meetings with agency representatives with the goal of information sharing
and resolution, and
WHEREAS, the funds provided by the U S Department of Justice are derived from grants
provided by the federal government, and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain
the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into a Negotiated Agreement for a Grant Contract
with the U S Department of Justice
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to sign the
above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the
County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Prosecuting Attorney and the Department of
Finance.
