Dati+ MAR 8 2Q01 The Honorable Chairman James Y Arakaki Page 2 March 8, 2001 CourrcN DWict 8 -Thomas Reece is a 20-year resident of Hawau He is employed by the On-Line Markebng Group, and has been for the pest 14 years Mr Reece received a B S degree from Mfsaoun State Unrversily Ha is a past presxent and curtent board member of the Greater Ocean View Chamber of Commerce, current chairman of the Ocean View Community Development Corporetion and also past president end current board member of the Kailua-Kona Lions Club He will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2003 Cound District 7 -Terry Wallace was bom and educated through high school in Hawau He has lived in Hawau for a total of 33 years He spent his university and professwnal career in the San Frencieco Bay area He served as an elected Fire Commissioner for the Novato Fire Distnct and was appointed to the Governors Task Force for revision and update of the Caldomia State Fire Code Since rebnng and moving back to Hawau, he was appointed to the Fire Board of Appeals by Mayor Akana and has served as Fire Chief of the Kona Village Volunteer Fire Unit Mr Wallace states that he is not affiliated with any polibcel party, and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2005, Corurel Dislrlct 8 - Alexander R Brro is a seven year resident of Hawau Mr Biro has served as a Fve FighterlRescue for the town of Faufreld, Connecticut for 27 years He is a member of the Kona Palisades Board of Directors and serves on the advisory board for the Hawau Island Food Bank He is also the Director for the St Michaels Food Pantry and serves as a pansh council member Mr Biro is a member of the Republican Party, and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2004 l:oundl DYtrk:t 9 - Stephen P Bowles is a lifelong resident of Hawau He is employed by Island Resources, Ltd , as a ground water geologist and is Chairman-CEO of Waimea Water Services He presently serves on the Waimea Water Roundtable and the Waimea Community Planning Committee Mr Bowles has also been employed by two federal agencies, the U S G S and the US-SCS, as a geologist and field technician, and the Honolulu Board of Water as a hydrologist and geologist Mr Bowles states that he is not affiliated with any political party, and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2004 The nomination and application form for Council Dtshict 2 will be forwarded to you next week along with the completed application for Mr Thomas Reece of Courrdl District 6 Should you have any questions or concerns, please catl me at your convenience Your review and favorable recommendations would be appreciated Aloha,~.r ~/fJ ,Harry Kim 2S IV MAYOR Attachments cc Fire Commissron Nominees O'1N!'IL ACTION DUE BY April 22, 2001 (Latest Scheduled Council Meeting -April 18, 2001)
