R[CEIV® ti <br /> By Cathenne Kellam, Board Member, Hawaii Island Humane Societn• ~"1°" y-r ~Y--~~ <br /> C`wnty Cpundl / r-f~ <br /> My name is Catherine Kellam and I am a member of the Board of Directors of the <br /> Hawau Island Humane Sociery I would like to compliment the Council members on this <br /> ne~v resolution and Request for Proposals And the realization from the Council that a fair <br /> evaluation would include the entire County's animal control program. I especially <br /> <br /> appreciate the added provisions requiring an assessment of the overall adequacy of <br /> <br /> funding for animal control services As well as an assessment of the suitability of <br /> <br /> maintaining one contractor to serve the entire island <br /> I strongly support adoption of this resolution As a new board member I welcome <br /> <br /> an unbiased. independent and complete evaluation by a professional and creditable <br /> organization I am anxious for the opportunity of receiving expert and technical <br /> assessments in the areas of animal sheltering and animal control operations <br /> I look forward to receiving recommendations for improvements so that as a Board <br /> ~+e .vi I I know where to target our energies and resources <br /> I view the adoption of this resolution as a giant step forward m all parties working <br /> together and finally acknowledging that an effective animal control program is a ~omt <br /> effort For as I said when I testified before, "The only way we can work towards any <br /> solution is to combine all of our efforts" <br /> I strongly encourage every member of the Council to support this Resolution ,,LL <br /> without further delay Thank you' No, ~ (T. 9J <br /> Ftile No. <br /> wMad <br /> Ref.
