Dear Chairman Arakakl and Councll Members
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawall Pollee
Commission
Council District 6 - Dan)el C Kama was bom and raised on Oahu and now resides in
Mountain View Mr Kama is a retired corrections officer with the Department of Public Safety
Mr Kama is the present coordinator of his neighborfioOd watch program and assists wdh the
County of Hawaii Prosecutor's Office He also served active duty with the U S Air Force
Mr Kama is a member of the Republican Party He will serve the remainder of the term
vacated by Joanne Herkes The term expires on December 31, 2002
Council District 8 - John M Bertsch is a seven-year resident of Hawaii Mr Bertsch Is a vice
president for Construction Technology Pacific, Inc He has served with the Kona Traffic Safety
Committee He is currently with the People's Advocacy for Trails Hawaii, the Amencan Cancer
Society, and assistant director for the Ironman Tnathlon He Is a volunteer firefighter and was a
search and rescue volunteer for the Coconino County Shenff Mr Bertsch Is a member of the
Republican Party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2005, replacing Clyde
Williams, whose term expired on December 31, 2000
