Kihara. recommended by Club 100, is a lifelong resident of Hawaii, and is a member of Disabled American Veterans. He was combat wounded and awarded the Purple Heart in 1943, and serves as Treasurer of the Hawaii Aikane Club. He is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term ending on December 31, 2005. Wendell E. K. Kekumu, recommended by Veterans of the Vietnam War, is an l 1-year resident of Hawaii, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Big Island Veterans Association. He is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term ending December 31, 2005. Paul K. Johnston, recommended by Korean War Veterans Organization, is a lifelong resident of Hawaii, a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and has served as the representative on this commission, and is being recommended for reappointment. SMITH TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COMMISSION From Mayor Harry Kim, dated April 3, 2001, submitting for confirmation the following names to the newly created Environmental Management Commission. Mack S. Asato, a lifelong resident of Hawaii, currently employed by the County of Hawaii, Department of Public Works, Highways Division, as a Road Construction Maintenance Supervisor for the Hamakua District. He is a member of the Democratic Party and will serve a term ending on December 31, 2003. (Council District I) 1Hugh Y. Ono, a lifelong resident of Hawaii, is currently self-employed in the engineering management business, a former engineering administrator for the State Department of Transportation, State Highways Division. and a former Chief Engineer for the County of Hawaii. He is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term ending December 31, 2005. (Council District 2) Samuel S. Kawamura, a lifelong resident of Hawa`i, is a retired drafting technician with the State Department of Transportation. He is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term ending December 31, 2001. Jones, a lifelong resident of Hawaii, is a PTT/substitute teacher with the Department of Education, a former teacher at the UH- Hilo Na Pua No`eau program. (Council District 5) David ~ieno Frankel, a lifelong resident of Hawaii, is aself-employed consultant and attorney, has served with the Office of State Planning as a planning and policy analyst. Martin, athree-year resident of Hawaii, is a former airline pilot and a former researcher for Recycle Hawaii. He also owns a waste processing company.
