Eox 3378 Honolulu, Hawaii 96801 Subject: KaPeh~I Wastewater ~'~catmcnt ~l~nt (3p~~°ata®a~ and 16~afntenance Inspecti®n - E1VI1?/Wl3 200291 References: (a) Wastewater Division letter OOLH-021 dated February 9, 2000 (b) Department of Health letter EMD/WE 200291 dated ~4pri14, 2000 The County of Hawaii Wastewater Division has received the annual Operation and Maintenance inspection Report for the I~apehu Wastewater Treatment Plant and provides the following responses to address the def ciencies cited in the report. Beficiencies: 1. The sewe~~ use charges are still not adequate to cover the annual operational expenses for the Hawaii County Wastelater Treatment Facilities. As indicated in the Operation and Maintenance Inspection Report the Wastewater Division will be proposing revisions to the Hawaii County Code to increase the user rates. Recommendwtions: 1. An access cover is still recommended to facilitate inspection of the seepage pit. The Coul~ty of Hawaii previously requested that the new 6-inch cleanout be utilized as the inspection point for the Seepage Pit. Justification for use of the cleanout as the inspection point was provided in reference (a).
