Dear Councilman Arakaki,
Aloha, My name is Charles Kawamoto and I am the manager of Pahoa Cash & Carry. This
letter is in response to a conversation you had with Mr. Glenn Dara concerning the problems
with water drainage during heavy rains and flooding- Prior to the new pool being built, that
propei� was full (-,& trees and thick vegetation. This helped to prevent any or minimal runoff
from that area: Since the completion of the Pahoa Pool complex located behind of our property,
we've experienced flooding caused by heavy runoff from that area during rain storms and heavy
rainfall. The water collects at the low spot near the storm drain fronting our parking lot making
it i!.--opossible for cmtomers to utilize the parking lot without risking their safety. This flooding
also creates a hazard, for local traffic and endangers pedestrians.
We need your assistance in solving this problem. Can the County Council and or the County
Parks & Recreation help with this situation? Improvements need to be done to prevent future
