As a weekend Hilo resident, who hds enjoyed the ben®fits of th® improvements to I.ilivokatani
Gardens rec®ntiy, I stron®ly discol,trs~ae you from opening up the coastal roadway to all traffic.
As a runner, back in the early >30s, I r®member how difficult and unsafe it was to shar® the coastal
roadway with vehicles. l also rennember the kid who lost his life when his speeding vehicle flew
over the wail and landed in the ocean.
There are so many reasons why the coastat roadway should remain closed to traffic indefinitely:
1) It makes it safer for mor® people (and Children} to use the roadway Area for recreational
pis@s such as, fishing, skating, walking, running, etc.
tt ~ovides a peaceful haven next to the ocean and away from vehicular noise,
~od4cs are already accustomed to not having the roadway opened,
4) Th® County has provided adequate parking in other areas s® th® 30 parking stalls on the
cetosktl rood are not really missed or n@ed®d,
5} People are using the parfc more often because the coastal road is closed to traffic.
6) The tour bus pass®ng®rs would greatly benefit from (exercising) around this coasts!
