Thank you for the opportunity to say a few words about this issue.
One of the nice things about moving to Hilo 18 years ago was the openness
that we all have here. The drive around the gardens was really delightful.
Of course, the views were spectacular, as they continue to be.
I would urge a vote for openness. Please let the vehicles continue to move
along this drive and don't fall into the trap of other places that close off
such use. There are some of our citizens who are unable to walk and being
able to drive through it, particularly at sunset or sunrise is something that
we shouldn't cut off. If concerns are raised about safety, make it a special
road and put in speed bumps, but please keep it open.
