How are you? Thanks again for coming over to visit my mother and for your
very thoughtful and generous gift.
I don't usually send letters to politicians regarding political afters but t
have strong enough feelings on this matter that i would lik to express my
opinion on this to you. I believe that the view of our majes is Mausha Kea,
combined with Hilo Say and our quaint Hilo Town on them untain .slopes seen
from the drive on Lihiwai Street across from t~iliuokalani F'a is one the
most spectacular views in the world. Realistically, I think t at more
residents and touris#s alike drive along that scenic route ra her tharh walk
it and I think that it would a tremendous loss for Milo especi Ily for people
not to see and remember this incredible view of our beautif I Sig bland. I
realize that this is not the only view of Mauna 6Cea but this ne is eactra
special. I'm sure that it is the most photographed scene of i ilo and Mauna
Ices.
Normally I would not be in favor of allowing increased and nnecessary
traffic and I can see how many people would be in favor of ess traffic. but
I really think tha# easy access to this wonderful scene of be utiful I~launa
14ea and Hilo would always be forever remembered by tho who gee it and for
visitors especially to want to return. I hope that you will tak these
reasons into consideration when and if you and your collea ues mike a
decision regarding the fate of this controversy. Thank you for your
consideration.
