Arakaki and Members of the County Council County of Hawaii Hilo, HI 96720 Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members: It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawaii Reapportionment Commission: Council District 2 -Steven Pavao is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and is currently the Director for the Boys and Girls Club. He is a former supervisor/manager for the State Department of Human Services -Child Welfare Service Division and former clinical supervisor for the YWCA Family Support Services. Mr. Pavao has also served as past president for the Hilo Intermediate Band Boosters and the Haili Christian School PTA. He is a member of the Democratic Party and will replace Byron Tom~,a , who resigned. Mr. Pavao will serve a term that will expire on December 31, 2001. Council District 4 _ Patrick L. Kahawaioia`a was born and raised in Hawaii, left for a number of years and has since returned. Mr. Kahawaiola'a is a retired U.S. Postal Service letter carrier. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and was called to active duty during the Vietnam conflict. He now serves as the President of the Keaukaha Community Association, board member of the Pacific Aquacultural Coastal Resource Center, member of the Kawananakoa Action Committee and is a past president of the NALC BR 2932, Hilo. Mr. Kahawaiola'a states that he is not affiliated with any political party and will replace Ms. Abbe- Napeahi, who resigned and whose term expires on December 31, 2001. Pursuant to Section 1(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations for placement on its future agenda.
