Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the Kailua Village
Design Commission:
C®uncil ®islrict 7 ~ Jay Hanson is a 13-year resident of Hawaii and is currently
employed as a programmer for Computer Vectors. Mr. Hanson previously
served on the County of Hawaii Planning Commission. Mr. Hanson states that
he is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term to expire on
December 31, 2003.
C®uncil ®istrict 8 K. Angel Pilago is a 55-year resident of Hawaii. Mr. Pilago is
currently an employment counselor with the State of Hawaii, Department of
Labor. Mr. Pilago's community service includes being a current member of the
Polynesian Voyaging Society, the Kona Hawaiian Civic Club and a past member
of the Hawaii Historic foundation and the tJative Hawaiian Historic Preservation
Council. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a
term to expire on December 31, 2003.
Council ®istrict 8•Robin Hurlbut is an 11-year resident of Hawaii. Ms. Hurlbut is
currently employed by Panache Destination Management as a tour director. She
is also a landscaper with her own firm, Robin's Nest Landscape Maintenance.
Organizations that Ms. Hurlbut belong to include the Kona Outdoor Circle, Hawaii
Professional Gardeners Association, Hawaii Island Landscapers Association,
Aloha Performing Arts Center and Recycle Hawaii. Ms. Hurlbut belongs to the
Republican Party, and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2003.

These three individuals will be replacing Kimi Cook-McKie, James Dumaguin and
Robert Vander Veer, whose terms expired on December 31, 2000.
