Rl?: Change in Hawaii Island Humane Society Adoption Policy
Aloha,
For a one~year period lse,ginning July 1, 2001, the Hawaii Island Huanane Society (HIHS)
will no longea disqualify adoptions solely on the basis that the dog will be used for pig
bunging purposes.
The HIHS Eoard of Directors have already voted on this policy change, which will take
effect July 1, 2001, I mistakenly ix~folrrled some ntetr?bers of the public that as official
kill-T3 vote orn this issue would aot occur until May 19, 2001. Upon further clarification
with tlae EIII~S >3oard President, I found that an of~eial vote had actually u~lcea placx o~.
April 2S, 2001 and the da9ci.siola was finalized.
Therefore, the HIHS adoption policy change is now of1•acial for the period July 1, 2001
through June 30, 2002.

As of July 1, 2001, voce are establishir?g • change of adoption policy that will
extend through June 30, 2002. iiiHS will no longer disqualify adoptions
solely on the basis that the dog in question is to be used for pIg hunting.
