Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 154, reports as follows:
Communication No. 154, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated March 6, 2001, nominates
Ms. Jeanne Yagi to serve on the Hawaii County Civil Service Commission.
A lifetime resident of Hawaii, Ms. Yagi is retired from the State and County of Hawaii and
presently serves as a member of the State Board of Registration, Office of Elections. She is also
a member of the Board of the Big Island Federal Credit Union, the Chinese Civic Association of
Hawaii and the Waiakea High School SCBM Council.
Ms. Yagi will replace Dorothy Pung whose term expired on December 31, 2000. Ms. Yagi has
previously served on this commission from August 22, 1995 to December 31, 1997. Of no
political affiliation, she will serve a term to end December 31, 2005.
Pursuant to Section 7-1.2, Hawaii County Charter, the civil service commission shall consist of
five members who shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the council in the manner
prescribed in Section 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter.
Your Committee on Finance recommends confirmation of the appointment of Ms. Jeanne Yagi
to the Hawaii County Civil Service Commission.
