Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 48-01, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 48-01, transmitted by Director of Finance William T. Takaba, via
Communication No. 113, dated February 1, 2001, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from
the Friends of the Pana`ewa Zoo.
The Friends of the Pana`ewa Zoo has graciously donated a variety of Dart Frogs and materials
for construction of a Children's Zoo to the Department of Parks & Recreation, Pana`ewa
Rainforest Zoo. The value of this donation is estimated at $15,690.00.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Friends of the Pana`ewa Zoo, P.O. Box 738, Kea`au,
Hawaii 96749, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 48-01
and recommends its adoption.
