Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 41-01, transmitted by Mayor
Harry Kim per Communication No. 97, dated January 12, 2001, regarding the naming of street in
the County of Hawaii, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 41-01 authorizes the approval of the street names for the roadway within the
Pa'auilo Homesteads, Hamakua, Hawaii.
The Planning Commission at its December 15, 2000, meeting approved the name for the roadway
in Exhibit "A" as follows:
Antone De Luz Road - after Antone De Luz, one of the original settlers
of this Homestead. The roadway has been
historically referred to as
Antone De Luz Road.
Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the Council is
authorized to adopt street names for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways.
Committee Member Dominic Yagong mentioned that this road has always been known by this
name. He also thanked Don Canario, the Community Policing Officer in this area, for his
assistance.
Your Committee did not entertain further discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 41-O1 and
recommends its adoption.
