Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 38-01, transmitted
by Mayor Harry Kim per Communication No. 94, dated January 12, 2001, regarding the
naming of streets in the County of Hawaii, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 38-O1 authorizes the approval of the street names for the roadways within
O`okala, North Hilo, Hawaii.
The Planning Commission at its December 15, 2000, meeting approved the names for the
roadways in Exhibit "A" as follows:
Kukui Village Road - after Kukui Village, the traditionally used
name for this portion of O`okala
Kukui Village Loop - after Kukui Village, the traditionally used
name for this portion of O`okala
Niu Village Road - after Niu Village, the traditionally used
name for this portion of O`okala
Niu Village Loop - after Niu Village, the traditionally used
name for this portion of O`okala
Hana Ika Luna Camp Road - after Hana Ika Luna Camp, the traditionally
used name for this portion of O`okala
Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the
Council is authorized to adopt street names for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways.

Your Committee did not entertain any discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution
No. 38-01 and recommends its adoption.
