No. 37-01 PLACE: Councilroom TIME: 2:55 p.m. Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 37-01, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim per Communication No. 93, dated January 12, 2001, regarding the naming of streets in the County of Hawaii, reports as follows: Resolution No. 37-01 authorizes the approval of the street names for the roadways within the Waipunalei Homesteads, North Hilo, Hawaii. The Planning Commission at its December 15, 2000, meeting approved the names for the roadways in Exhibit "A" as follows: Jardine Road - after the Jardine Family, one of the original settlers of this Homestead. The roadway has been historically referred to as Jardine Road. Loyola Road - after the Loyola Family, one of the original settlers of this Homestead. The roadway has been historically referred to as Loyola Road. Stevens Road - after the Stevens Family, one of the original settlers of this Homestead. The roadway has been historically referred to as Stevens Road. Liloa Road - after the Hawaiian Chief `Umi-a-Liloa. Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the Council is authorized to adopt street names for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways. Committee Member Dominic Yagong mentioned that these roads have always gone by these names, so he concurs with the recommendation of the Planning Commission. Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 37-01 and recommends its adoption.
