WHEREAS, the Federal Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant monies have been
awarded to facilitate implementation of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's Comprehensive
Strategy program; and
WHEREAS, this program calls for inter-agency and community collaboration in addressing
issues of prevention, intervention, supervision, treatment, and aftercare of juvenile offenders; and
WHEREAS, the federal funds provide for a Clerk II position as the primary clerical support for
the efforts of this program; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has
the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council...".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE Ifi RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that a Clerk II, SR-8 position be created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds are available through the Federal Juvenile
Accountability Incentive Block Grant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments
of Finance and Civil Service and to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
