Re: Comments on May 17, 2001 Real Property Tax Hearings
Dear Curtis:
You were right. After just listening the other night for a change, at the public hearing, we
do have some comments.
What we all experienced when a question was asked of Gary Kyota and he made it sound
like he was the attorney for any big resort with a golf course, was most alarming. We
wanted you to know that we were as appalled as you were when our Real Property Tax
Administrator is making excuses, in a public hearing, for mega-resorts.
This is exactly why we have made a commitment to hold government accountable.
Also, the fact that a question was asked that only Mr. Kyota could answer and we observed
the attention of everyone in that room turned to him in the audience and unlike the way you
protected Mr. Ashida when I asked a question that only he could answer, you allowed the
democratic process to continue with Mr. Kyota, which seemed like a double standard to us.
Sincerely,
Ch~i•~twie. i~acLL
