Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 195, reports as follows:
Communication No. 195, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated April 19, 2001, nominates
Mr. David R. Powell to the Hawaii County Tax Board of Review.
A resident of Hawaii for 43 years, Mr. David R. Powell has been retired since 1998.
Professionally, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Case and Lynch, and as a partner of
Deloitte and Touche. He is active with the Consuelo Zober Alger Foundation, the Catholic
Charities Family Services, and the Alliance for Children and Families. Of no political party
affiliation, he will serve a term to end December 31, 2005.
Pursuant to Section 19-96, Hawaii County Code, there is created a board of review for the
county which shall consist of five members...appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the
council as provided by charter.
For informational purposes, Mr. Tyler voted kanalua twice.
Your Committee on Finance recommends confirmation of Mr. David R. Powell to the Hawaii
County Tax Board of Review.
