Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 73-01, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 73-O1, transmitted by Fire Chief Edward Bumatay, via Communication No. 186,
dated April 16, 2001, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Dr. and Mrs. Earl Bakken.
Dr. and Mrs. Earl Bakken have graciously donated eight Lifepak 500 Automatic External
Defibrillators (AEDs) to the Fire Department for use by personnel stationed at the Kawailani,
Honokaa, Waimea, North Kohala, Captain Cook, Keaau, Pahoa and Waiakea Fire Stations. The
value of this donation is estimated at $28,000.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Dr. and Mrs. Earl Bakken, 68-1399 Maunalani Street,
Kamuela, Hawaii 96743, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 73-01
and recommends its adoption.
