REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PARKS & ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT <br /> DATE: May 15, 2001 RE: COMM. NO. 2l 0/RESOLUTION NO. 81-0 l <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> T[ME: 1:13 p.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo. Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Parks & Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication <br /> <br /> No. 210. and attached Resolution No. 81-01 reports as follows: <br /> The purpose of Resolution No. 81-0 l is to request the Director of Parks and Recreation to install <br /> gates at both ends of Lihiwai Street: one at the beginning of Lihiwai Street by the Coconut Island <br /> Driveway, and the other at the corner of Lihiwai Street and the Isles parking lot. When the gates are <br /> installed, athree-month trial period shall go into effect to open Lihiwai Street in Lili`uokalani <br /> Garden to vehicular access on specified days as follows: 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through <br /> Friday. The gates shall be closed to vehicular traffic from 10:00 p.m. Friday and will remain closed <br /> Saturday and Sunday, and will reopen at 6:30 a.m. Monday morning. Gates shall also be closed on <br /> all County holidays that fall within the three month trial period.
