Clint Properties is a diversified company investing in agriculture in the ~Tillamette Valley
in ®regon and on the big island of ~Iawaii.
VVe are presently growia~g Kona coffee and cocoa trees on our farm in Kona. The cocoa
trees were planted three years ago to supply cocoa to the Hawaiian Chocolate Factory.
VNe fully support its effort to produce a unique Hawaiian. product that will be prolttable
j and add to the agricultural base so important to the I
Iawaaian economy. In order for us to
expand our investment in this product and continue our support for the 1awaiian
Chocolate Factory, we would like to have govexa~ment suppe?rf in the following areas:
1. Quarantine to prevent the impart of offshore beans that may contain
pathogens that will cause damage to cocoa and other crops such as palms and
orchids.
2. Labeling which will certify the percentage of the finished product that
contains crops grown in klawaii.
3. Enforcement of existing laws that will prevent theft of agricultural products
from posted Iands.
We are anxious and vvilking to continue our investment in agriculture in I'lawaii, ®Ve
would appreciate your help in providing an environment that will mare this possible.
