Authorizing a bus stop at this location will provide a safe area for riders to wait for and board the County bus. PW&IRC-10 Page 2 July 5, 2001 Comm. 235: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE (Bill 70) HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC (Converts the existing bus stop along Sarona Road to a freightloading zone) From Deputy Director Galen Kuba, Department of Public Works, dated May 15, 2001, transmitting the above bill. States the bus stop is no longer in use and the area is used for loading activities. Comm. 238: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE (Bill 71) HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC (Restrictions on Certain Vehicles on Pakalana Street and Waipio Valley Access Road in Hamakua) From Director Dennis K. W. Lee, P. E., Department of Public Works, dated May 24, 2001, transmitting the above bill. They were informed that the weight limit restrictions in the area are too low and should be increased to allow use by a 1-ton capacity truck. The Hamakua Safety Council and the Hamakua Police concur with the proposed weight limit. Comm. 236: CONCERNS SUBMITTED BY FRANCIS L. BENEVIDES, SR., RELATING TO TRAFFIC SAFETY AND OTHER MATTERS IN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII From Francis L. Benevides, Sr., Volunteer, Traffic Safety Coordinator, commenting and submitting suggestions on several hazardous conditions he feels should be addressed by the Council.
