Comm. 224: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE
(Bill 64) HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING
TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC (Nanawale Estates Subdivision
{County Owned and Private Streets} -Proposed Traffic
Regulation)
From Dennis K. W. Lee, P. E., Director of Public Works, dated
May 9, 2001, informing that Section 24-2 of the Hawaii County Code
states that all private roads, which have been continuously used by the
general public for more than six months, and designated by the
Council, are subject to the provisions of the State (HRS, Chapter
291 C) and the County (Chapter 24) Traffic Codes.

Per request of the Nanawale Community Association, Inc. (NCA),
submits the attached bill to allow the police department to enforce
traffic regulations within the private roads after traffic regulations
are codified and appropriate traffic control devices are installed in
the Nanawale Estates Subdivision.
