INTRODUCING THEIR COMPANY, WHICH REPRESENTS THE FIRST INTER-
ISLAND MARKETPLACE WHERE PROSPECTIVE COCOA GROWERS CAN
MARKET COCOA BEANS.

Comm. 250: THE ORIGINAL HAWAIIAN CHOCOLATE FACTORY'S REQUEST
FOR ASSISTANCE TO PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THEIR
GROWING AND PROCESSING BUSINESS
From Bob Cooper, dated June 7, 2001, introducing their company, which
they hope will become a major agribusiness for the County of Hawaii as

Comm. 250: well as the State of Hawaii. States that in the interest of their mission to
(Continued) produce a very special product and their desire to make a positive
contribution to Hawaii, that it is imperative that the integrity of this
growing and processing business be protected. Feels having a State of
Hawaii Quarantine to safeguard the Hawaiian cocoa trees; Certification
verifying that all Hawaiian cocoa is grown as genuine 100% Hawaiian
and processed in Hawaii; and in Law Enforcement, governing theft of
agricultural products from posted lands, that more active investigation
and enforcement of current laws are essential to accomplish this.
Comm. 250.1: From John H. McClintock, President, Clint Properties, Inc., dated
June 14, 2001. States they are a diversified company investing in
agriculture in the Willamette Valley in Oregon and in Hawaii.
Presently, they are growing Kona coffee and cocoa trees on their farm in
Kona. The latter was planted three years ago to supply cocoa to the
Hawaiian Chocolate Factory. Requests support relating to quarantine,
certification (labeling), and law enforcement.
