Comm. 201: KAPEHU WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE INSPECTION
Copy of letter to Director of Public Works Dennis Lee from
Thomas E. Arizumi, P. E., Chief, Environmental Management
Division, State Department of Health, dated March 13, 2001,
transmitting their operation and maintenance report for the subject
facility which was given an "acceptable" rating for reasons as
noted in the report.
Comm. 201.1: Copy of letter to Thomas E. Arizumi, P. E., Chief, Environmental
Management Division, State Department of IJealth, from Dennis
Lee, Director, Department of Public Works, dated March 22, 2001,
addressing the deficiencies cited in Comm. 201 regarding the
Kapehu Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Comm. 202: IMPORTED TIRES AT WEST HAWAII LANDFILL
From Dennis Lee, Director of Public Works, dated March 16,
2001, submitting a customer detail report on. the commercial load
containers that were accepted at the West Hawaii Landfill from
Unitek Solvent Services for about three months. After finding out
that the sealed containers contained cut tires, Unitek was notified
that the County would no longer accept the loads.
Comm. 203: FLOOD PROBLEMS IN PAHOA ALLEGEDLY CAUSED BY
THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW POOL COMPLEX
From Charles Kawamoto, Manager of Pahoa Cash & Carry, dated
April 23, 2001, informing since the completion of the Pahoa Pool
Complex behind their property, they have experienced flooding
caused by heavy runoff during rain storms and heavy rainfall.
States before the pool was built, the property was full of trees and
thick vegetation that helped prevent any or minimized runoff from
that area surrounded their area. Informs the water collects at the
low spot near the storm drain fronting their parking lot, making it
impossible for customers to utilize the parking lot without risking
their safety, and creating a hazard for local traffic and endangering
pedestrians. Requests County assistance in solving this flooding
problem.
Comm. 207: SEWER SYSTEM MAINTENANCE INSPECTION -COUNTY
OF HAWAII (EAST HAWAII)
Copy of letter to Director of Public Works Dennis Lee from
Thomas E. Arizumi, P. E., Chief, Environmental Management
Division, State Department of Health, dated April 17, 2001,
transmitting their sewer system maintenance report for the East
Hawaii District. No major deficiencies were noted during the
June 29, 2000 inspection.

Management Division, State Department of Health, from Dennis
Lee, Director, Department of Public Works, dated May 31, 2001,
providing a corrective action plan to address the deficiencies cited
