Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 89-01, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 89-01, transmitted by Director of Finance William T. Takaba, via
Communication No. 240, dated May 29, 2001, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the
Hawaii Lifeguard Association.
The Hawaii Lifeguard Association has graciously donated sixteen rescue tubes and seven
training rescue boards to the Department of Parks & Recreation, Aquatics Division for use in
their Junior Lifeguard Training Programs in Puna, Hilo, South Kohala, and Kona. The value of
this donation is estimated at $3,084.05.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal. property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Hawaii Lifeguard Association, c/o 2349
Kalaniana`ole Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 89-O1
and recommends its adoption.
