Re: Operating Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance appropriating an additional $9,500 of revenues from the
Synchro Swim Competition to its expenditure account. The increase in revenue will come
from the gate admission and participant fees and will be used to cover the cost of hosting
this national competition. Only limited funds were available in the Aquatics Division budget
to purchase the materials, supplies, and services needed for this event.

Recreation.

To increase revenue in account 3407.31 Synchro Swim Competition by $9,500
To appropriate the $9,500 to expend funds as follows:

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The 2001 U.S. OPI~N SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS will be
held at the Kona Community Aquatic Center in Kailua-Kona from
July 15 _ 21, 2001 .
Agate admission fee of $5.00 will be charged by the Aquatics Division for
anyone over 12 years of age for the Junior or Senior Division Final
Competitions. The fee will be $8.00 for both the Junior and Senior Division
Final Competitions if purchased together. In addition, each participant will be
charged a fee of $20.00. We estimate that there will be approximately 500
spectators and 400 participants.
There are only limited funds available in the Aquatics Division budget to
purchase the materials, supplies, and services needed for this event. The
revenue collected for this event is needed to cover the cost of hosting this
national competition.
