Re: Operating Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating an
additional $28,718 in the Occupant Protection Program. The State of Hawaii Department
of Transportation Motor Vehicle Safety Office is providing this grant to reduce traffic
fatalities and injuries to all occupants and to increase seatbelt usage. The total grant
amount is $28,718 more than what is shown in the current Operating Budget.

B. $ACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION OUSE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The State Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Safety Office is
providing a grant to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries to all
occupants and increase seatbelt usage. This will be accomplished by
conducting roadblocks to enforce seatbelt usage and acquiring tint
meters.
