Re: Operating Sudget and Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Sudget by appropriating an
$1,000 monetary donation to the Hawaii Police Department's Administration Division's
OCE account. This will be used to defray the cost of sending an officer to the 2001
International Torch Run Conference in Wichita, Kansas.
Also enclosed is a resolution accepting the donation from the Hawaii Police Athletic
Federation.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawaii Police Department.

To appropriate an additional $1,000.00 in the Police Administration
Travel/Conference account number 010-201-5203.02-104.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Hawaii
has been recognized internationally, and Honolulu has been chosen as the
site for the 2002 International Torch Run Conference.
As many as one thousand law enforcement officers from around the world
will be attending this international conference and the Honolulu Police
Department is asking for our support and participation in the event.
To prepare for this event, the Honolulu Police Department has asked that
we send an officer to the 2001 International Torch Run Conference which
will be held in Wichita, Kansas from October 31 to November 3, 2001.
A monetary donation from the Hawaii Police Athletic Federation will be
used to defray the cost.
