Dear Councilmembers,
I am writing to ask for your support for building an i~Tadiator here on the Big Island.
As a farmer/businessperson/ pport an ' diction treatment facility for export of my
cro (s to the mainland. I presently farm acres of %~~4 , and`p~~~ in

1 believe that an irradiation processing facility will help build agricultural exports. New farnlands
and investment can be devoted to a range of promising crops if we support post-harvest treatment for
export. This will help my farm business, my farsily, rmd our cormunity.
Irradiation treatment at low dose levels for quarantine processing has been proven safe. You have
been given a wealth of information concerning the safety of food irradiation.
Please give our farmers the chance to export our unique crops and commodities to mainland
markets. We have an opportunity to support our farmers, build our agricultural sector, expand commercial
use of our airport, and put new life into [he struggling East Hawaii economy. Let's do it!
Your support for the proposed irradiator is' an important step in building a green, rural, and
prosperous Hawaii. Please vole YES on April 24`"! Mahalo.
