Dear Council Members:
T am a farmer on the Hamakua Coast who is engaged in growing exotic fiuit trees sad hope to
expand and flourish on this wonderful island.
In order to ship and provide the outside wood with these unique products, we are in great need
of an irradiation facility that will encourage all the farmers and push for greater economic
prosperity. The council members should support such a great opportunity that wr11 move the
gowfh and economic prosperity at least 20 years ahead instead of going back 20 years-
As to the validity ofthe claim that the irradiation process is harmful, we have not seen, nor heard
01; nay concrete evidence- Ifthere have been any incidence of harm, they only occurred through
human failure. We hope that we can trust our elected representatives to support this much
needed facility for the betterment of alll
Sincerely, /
