WH~R~e4S, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other
obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one
fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WH~RE,AS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into amulti-year lease agreement for five (5)
years for two (2) postage meters for the Office of the Corporation Counsel, Family Support Division,
'kilo and Kona Branches; and
WHEREAS, the Hilo Branch's existing postage meter that was purchased in 1987 is obsolete
and the United States Postal Service will not be resetting the equipment to allow reading of the meter;
and
WHEREAS, the Kona Branch is currently utilizing postage stamps, which is cumbersome and
inefficient; and
WFIEREAS, the Office of the Corporation Counsel, Family Support Division, anticipates an
increase in its workload requiring numerous court documents to be mailed; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii will be fully reimbursed for the entire lease cost of the
postage meters by the State of Hawaii.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT FtESOLVE® BY THE COUNCIL OE THE COUNTY OF H.~IOVA?I`I:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease agreement
of two (2) postage meters for the Office of the Corporation Counsel, Family Support
Division, Hilo and Kona Branches.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated
obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
