COMPU-TER MAINTENANCE AND Sl~PP®RT SERVICES FOR THE C~E°TRONICS/WANt;
BRAND ®F C®MPUTER EC~UIPMENT
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other
obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one
fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the current six (6) year, fixed priced basis agreement for computer maintenance
and support services with Getronics Wang Co. LLC DBA Getronics (formerly Wang Laboratories
Inc.) is scheduled to expire on September 30, 2001; and
WHEREAS, the new agreement with Getronics provides for computer maintenance and support
services for the County's Getronics/Vl/ang brand of computer equipment which are critical to the
County's day-to-day operations; and
WHEREAS, the terms and conditions of the new agreement will be similar to those of the
current agreement as the County will continue to benefit from receiving one-stop vendor support for
all of its Getronic/Vllang computer systems on an island-wide basis;
WHEREAS, the pricing in the new agreement will be adjusted to reflect increases that have
taken place over the past six years; and
WHEREAS, the County will receive a 30% discount off of Getronics/VNang list prices and there
are provisions that allow the County to reduce item coverage without penalty over the life of the
agreement as older computer systems are phased out or replaced; and
WHEI~Ee~S, the County will be entering into a new six-year agreement for computer
maintenance and support services with Getronics; and
WHERE~?S, Getronics has been per¢orming satisfactory computer system hardware and
software maintenance support services for the County of Hawaii over the past twenty years and this
vendor has recently been determined to be the sole source provider for Getronics/V11ang brand of
computer hardware, software maintenance, and support services.
NOW, THEI2EFOfaE, 13E IT RESOLVE® BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF Hi4WAl`I:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into amulti-year agreement with
Getronics for computer maintenance and support services for the Getronics/V1/ang brand of
computer equipment.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated
obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
