RESOLUTION CRIEATING A SECRETARY POSITION FOR THE IFIRE COI~IINIISSION
WHEREs4S, the Hawaii County Charter's 2000 Amendments created the Fire Commission
and pursuant to Article VII, Section 7-4.5, authorizes it to appoint such staff as necessary for the
performance of its duties; and
WHEREAS, this secretary position will provide the administrative and clerical support services
necessary for the operation of the Fire Commission; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has
the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council...".
NOW, THEREFORE, 13E iT RESOLVEU ~Y THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that a Secretary, SR-16 position be created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVE.C that there are sufficient funds available in the Fire Department's
Fire Protection's Regular Salaries and Wages account 010-221-5221.01-011.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments
of Finance, Fire, and Civil Service and to the Fire Commission.
