Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 263, reports as follows:
Communication No. 263, transmitted by Richard L. Falciatano, Jr., Tax Manager of Volume
Services America, dated June 21, 2001, requests an abatement of penalty and interest on tax paid
for the 2000-2001 real property tax bill.
On August 23, 2000 Volume Services America notified the County of Hawaii Real Property
Tax Division with their first installment payment that the address had changed to the corporate
mailing address in 201 East Broad Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. When the second installment
was sent out, the mailing address was converted back to the original address.
According to Real Property Tax Administrator Gary Kiyota, the mailing address for Volume
Services America was changed to: 3 Com Park, San Francisco, CA 94124-3904 in accordance to
the U.S. Postal Service, PS Form 3547.
Your Committee on Finance recommends approval of the request from Volume Services
America for an abatement of penalty and interest on the real property taxes.
