Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 104-01, transmitted
by Mayor Harry Kim per Communication No. 280, dated July 30, 2001, regarding the
naming of streets in the County of Hawaii, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 104-O1 authorizes the approval of the street name for the roadway within
the new Konawaena Elementary School Subdivision site, Onouli 1st, South Kona,
Hawaii.
The Planning Commission at its July 6, 2001, meeting approved the name for the
roadway in Exhibit "A" as follows:
Onouli Road - after the ahupua`a in which the school is
located
Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the
Council is authorized to adopt street names for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways.
Your Committee did not entertain any discussion on this measure except for the friendly
amendment by Committee Member Curtis Tyler to include the okina in the word
"ahupua` a".
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No.
104-01, as amended to Resolution No. 104-01, Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
